How do characters from the future look like? Which skills and characteristics do they have in order to change the world? At the Character Design station, you can create your own video game heroines and heroes, and develop them digitally and analog.

This station is part of Studio Zukunft.

Creative Gaming Award Show

Again, the awarding ceremony on Saturday is the celebratory ending to the festival. By then, the jury had had several days to play the nominees and talk to the developers about their games. On this evening, they announce the winners of the two categories. Furthermore, the audience award will honor the visitor’s favorite game of the PLAY18 Exhibition.

But that’s not all! Prior to the Award Ceremony, Alistair Aitcheson, creator of The Incredible Playable Show, returns with a brand new interactive game-show where members of the audience get to take part in bizarre and hilarious video game challenges! Glitches, wearable controllers and audience participation clash to turn retro classics into entirely new, totally unpredictable experiences!

After the Award Show there will be a party at the Festival HQ.

Insert Moin Podcast Sofa

Insert Moin – probably the most daily video game podcast in the world – has been broadcasting a new episode about video games and game culture every day since 2010. As part of PLAY18, the presenter Manuel Fritsch will set up a cozy podcast sofa on which he will interview developers and other famous guests of the festival.

Visitors can have a look at the podcast producer live at work and, of course, engage in dialogue with him.

Let’s Play, seriously!

Let’s Plays have become a very popular form of entertainment, with which Let’s Players like Gronkh, Paluten or GermanLetsPlay can reach millions of people.

The commented game sequences not only allow to present the games, but also to prove one’s skill.

Let’s Plays can also offer a platform to address political or cultural topics, for instance with Serious Games.

In this workshop, participants can learn the basics of Let’s Playing, play numerous games with political content, and record their own Let’s Plays.
